day 49 of 50: Perfect Imperfection in the here and now

Jacqueline: (glass drop from chandelier)
here's to our hearts being broken again, and again, and again...

Amichai: What do I see on the top of the mountain?

"The angel facing south had a small bit of wing missing: nothing to speak of, yet the fact of being slightly chipped in this ways was sufficient to give it a touch of humanity, to turn it into something fragile, perishable, arousing sympathy. There are times when one needs to have one’s heart wrung by the sight of a piece of stone crumbling away."

That broken angel, described by Holocaust survivor Anne Langfus in her 1960 novel 'Land of Brimstone' was slowly crumbling on the roof of a church in the middle of the Lublin Ghetto. For those who cared, still cared to notice, to look up above reality, even the angels were falling apart. Perhaps with compassion.

And so today, we're here, up with angels, and we've gathered much that's broken. and much that's not.

Seven weeks after leaving the slavery of the narrow place of Egypt, liberated pilgrims on our journey home, we've climbed a mountain, and stand here, breathless, just below the top, in the sight of all there is. We are surrounded by angels, hardly perfect cherubim, these kind, and we are here with each other, all who've climbed. We smile, with wrinkles, point at scars, put down our baggage, wear our best white clothing, and stand still, perfectly present in our imperfection to receive this present which is truth itself.

We shine like crystals in a chandelier, reflecting light off of each other like a rainbow of white light. Every little crystal shines its own fantastic light, detached or not from the main light fixture. Even one that drops from the ceiling, like a fallen angel, will retain the light and keep on shining us the way to get back next time to the height, the road, the mountain.

Malchut of Malchut: Perfect Imperfection in the here and now. Gratitude for the kindness, and the discipline, compassion, glimpse of the infinite, humility, reconnecting to our root - and to our crown.
Thank you for the journey, sister Jacqueline, you of the big heart and sharp eye and deft hand and grand truth. Thank you for the fellow travelers, for the joining and the shared thoughts. This chandelier, held by crumbling angels, thanks to all of us, is now turned ON.
and the journey, will somehow, continue. how lucky we are.

A perfect Sabbath, a healing holiday of revelation.
